Grinch or Gospel?
Hebrews 1:1-6
Theodore Geisel was born in 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts and began writing children’s books in the 1940’s. A graphic design artist by trade, Geisel’s inspiration for writing and illustrating came from creating ads for Flit insecticide produced by Standard Oil Company. These ads consisted of a cartoon drawing of people enjoying a relaxing time reading or resting only to be disturbed by a grotesque bug-like creature. The caption promoted the insecticide. If you study these drawings you can see the seeds of the creatures that would later appear in Dr. Seuss’ children’s books.
